ARAMARK Revitalizes Los Angeles Salvation Army Red Shield Community Center

ARAMARK, a global leader in professional services, today announced that Los Angeles will be the next stop on the ARAMARK Building Community national tour, an initiative that will enhance community centers and create long-term commitments to community centers in 30 cites over the next year.

On July 17, 2008, ARAMARK employee volunteers will participate in a day of service, refurbishing the Salvation Army Red Shield Youth and Community Center, located at 1532 W. 11th Street in the Pico-Union area of Los Angeles. With this event, ARAMARK looks forward to beginning a long-term partnership with the Salvation Army Southern California to help families in need throughout the Los Angeles area.

During the day-long event, ARAMARK employee volunteers, in partnership with City Year, a group dedicated to engaging young people in full-time community service and ARAMARKs volunteerism partner, will participate in a variety of hands-on enhancement projects around Red Shield, including: creating an outdoor nature classroom; landscaping the nearby community garden; refurbishing the Centers courtyard, backyard and pool area; painting interior and exterior spaces; and painting inspirational murals.

At ARAMARK, we have a long legacy of putting community needs first. Our corporate resources, combined with our passion for volunteerism, allow us to positively impact social issues in a powerful way, and in a manner that is truly relevant to our business strengths, culture and community stakeholders, said Thomas Vozzo, president, ARAMARK Uniform and Career Apparel. An ongoing partnership with the Salvation Army will allow us to leverage this energy and expertise to support the Southern California community in a meaningful way.

Through ARAMARK Building Community, volunteers use their expertise to help youth and adults develop critical, employable work skills and connect them to career opportunities; support families with nutrition and wellness education; provide basic needs such as food and clothing; and help identified partners run cleaner, safer and more efficient facilities.

The Salvation Army Red Shield Youth and Community Center has served 196,200 children and their families since 1950, said Irene Lewis, executive director of the Center. This partnership with ARAMARK is a welcomed and natural progression for both parties, and were anxious to see the positive impact on our Center and individuals within the community as we continue to work together in the years to come.

ARAMARK has 3,122 employees within Los Angeles County and 7,154 throughout Southern California, serving a number of clients including: Angel Stadium of Anaheim, Honda Center, University of Southern California, Los Angeles Convention Center, Greek Theater, AT&T Tower and Metro Transportation Authority (MTA), to name a few. The Companys Uniform Division is also headquartered in Burbank, Calif.
