ARAMARK, a leading provider of professional services, and Neighborhood Centers Inc., a leading social service organization in Houston, today announced a three-year community partnership to help families in need and build stronger neighborhoods throughout Houston. The announcement coincides with ARAMARK’s local Community Service Day, taking place today (National Philanthropy Day) at Harbach-Ripley Community Center, one of Neighborhood Centers’ service sites in Southeast Houston.
ARAMARK will work with Neighborhood Centers Inc. to help to build a productive workforce, encourage a healthy lifestyle and provide basic human services, such as access to food, clothing and safe environments to individuals and families in need. Through this partnership, ARAMARK will provide a range of resources including project grants and in-kind support as well as the time and energy of its employee volunteers.
“Neighborhood Centers has been helping underserved communities in Houston for a century now,” said Neighborhood Centers Inc. President and CEO Angela Blanchard. “We are currently helping people grow economically and educationally in more than 50 Houston neighborhoods. Our partnership with ARAMARK, a business that has long been a pillar of our community, will strengthen these efforts. We are proud to add their long-standing tradition of community involvement to our own.”
“Engaging the expertise of our people and professional service skills of ARAMARK in service to community centers is a powerful fit,” said Andrew Kerin, President, Domestic Food, Hospitality and Facilities for ARAMARK. “We are excited about this partnership with Neighborhood Centers and look forward to our ongoing relationship to enrich the lives of the thousands of individuals and families throughout the Houston community.”
Today, more than 200 ARAMARK employees will donate their time at Harbach-Ripley Community Center working on multiple physical improvement projects that will enhance the 13 acre campus. To help ARAMARK maximize the skills and resources of its employees and create a meaningful community service day, ARAMARK is partnering with City Year, one of the nation’s leading nonprofit organizations dedicated to engaging people of all ages in volunteerism. City Year corps members will work alongside ARAMARK employees on projects including refurbishing a baseball field, landscaping the grounds and creating a raised garden, painting murals and the exterior of the building, and constructing an outdoor learning classroom for the Charter School.
Already this year, ARAMARK and Neighborhood Centers Inc. have collaborated on programs to educate 100 middle and high school students about work, career and future higher education opportunities through Ready2Act Youth Day. In August, ARAMARK hosted a health and nutrition awareness event for more than 350 families during the Health Information Program Party (HIPP) also at the Harbach-Ripley Center.
ARAMARK has more than 8,500 employees and 2,000 clients in the Houston area including the Houston Independent School District, Methodist Hospital, University of Houston, MD Anderson, ExxonMobil, Reliant Park, the George R. Brown Convention Center, Harris County, and Minute Maid Park.
ARAMARK has a proud tradition of community service in the greater Houston community. Annually, ARAMARK contributes to numerous charitable organizations in the Houston region with in-kind donations, volunteer support, and philanthropic gifts.
