The newly launched preschool learning center joins others serving the Los Angeles area in service of their mission to help children grow, explore and learn through play. A foundational element of the organization’s mission is giving the children access to the outdoors, with up to three hours of outside play each day on play structures and in a yard designed to encourage imaginative and physical play. The space also allows children the freedom to run, jump, and crawl safely.
Given the current state of the pandemic, the staff at Beginnings Learning Center highlights their efforts to maintain an immaculate facility. Each site has a dedicated cleaning staff to keep each room tidy, organized, and hygienic throughout the day. The current safety measures include thorough hand washing, sanitizing every station, cleaning high-traffic areas, multiple health checks, professional cleaners, limiting exposure, and HEPA air purification.
The grand opening for the new Van Nuys learning center follows in line with what the existing centers already offer students, including hot home-cooked meals. By providing breakfast, a hot lunch, and an afternoon snack, Beginnings Learning Center aims to ensure proper nutrition in a setting that allows children to learn to serve themselves, share, and develop other mealtime skills like pre-math and social skills.
The new Beginnings Learning Center also continues the focus the existing centers have on the social and emotional development of their students. Through interactive play, the centers intend to foster daily interactions and redirections that build resiliency and significantly improve self-esteem.
The Van Nuys-located learning center also follows a method designed to help children learn reflection and respect. The qualified staff aims to speak with students about their actions and encourages them to verbalize their feelings to practice their own self-awareness.
The newly opened center also works to foster the bond between home and school by requesting parents to regularly participate in school activities and hosting twice-yearly parent conferences.
