Andrew Chong UIUC is a humanitarian with strong values. He has contributed to various relief funds and other social endeavors. It was during his time at the King’s Academy when Andrew Chong UIUC student started developing an interest in humanitarian work and studies. For him, it has always been an intriguing area of study and a personal interest due to its applicability in everyday life.

He has contributed in various ways to help others including organizing and participating in distribution drives, teaching children music and other subjects, spreading awareness, and being vocal about human rights. Andrew Chong UIUC student’s passion for social work stems from his belief that he can contribute to the people and the world in a way that can make it better.

Our world is in a state of turmoil, to say the least. Every other day we encounter news from different corners of the world about people living in terrible conditions and poverty, about victims of war and natural disasters, and various other stories that are enough to instill in us a sense of horror for their plight and a sense of gratitude for all that we have.

Andrew Chong UIUC also realizes the there are various people who are less fortunate and brave their plights every day. Because of this while he was still in King’s Academy he participated in all the social drives that he could. And even after finishing school there, he went to Paraguay to continue his humanitarian journey and work hard to help those in need of his help.

While it is not as easy as it sounds to contribute to a social cause, Andrew Chong UIUC found that it is a deeply evolving experience. His social work not only made him for empathetic towards the cause of those who were in a less fortunate position than others, it also made him more grateful for what he and others around his immediate surroundings had.  

Contributing and serving humankind taught Andrew Chong UIUC that life is precious and one must learn to live it to the fullest despite all odds. His humanitarian journey which has been quite successful till now and continues to be so has taught him compassion and has made him emotionally aware of his needs along with others. 

There is a transformative change one can feel when they start taking care of not just their needs but of others as well. Andrew Chong UIUC experiences a similar transformation deep within him which made him sensitive to the happening of the world and helped him to overcome his tryst with existentialism. Humanitarian and social work has been facilitated a positive change in Andrew Chong UIUC and that has kept him motivated to make the world a better place.

Humanitarian work does indeed involve a lot of giving but what it gives us back is a sense of satisfaction for contributing towards making the world a better place. It is a motivating factor that propels people to do further good for no other reason but simply because they have learned to feel for others and realize the power within themselves they can utilize to help those who need their help the most. It is one of the most effective ways in which we can give back to the world which has given us so much.
