A partnership between Providence Health & Services and the Health
Net Foundation to provide mobile health services to the uninsured at
nine locations in the East San Fernando Valley. According to a 2006
study by the California HealthCare Foundation, the treatment of
chronic disease, such as diabetes, accounts for 80 percent of our
nation’s total health care bill. This program seeks to improve
community health by delivering ongoing health care services and
education to uninsured patients with chronic illnesses. In
collaboration with the City and County of Los Angeles, the program
also focuses on preventive health care. On Monday, the Health Net
Foundation will announce a major financial contribution to support
the program.

Dr. Glenn Lopez, a family practitioner with a master’s degree in
public health, operates his mobile clinic five days a week, visiting
nine locations in the eastern San Fernando Valley and serving
patients, many in desperate need of treatment and education for
chronic conditions such as diabetes and heart disease.
